Unwind (review)

In this futuristic world created by Neal Shusterman, abortion is illegalized and the solution for unwanted children is: UNWINDING. Between the ages of 13 and 17, parents or guardians can choose to have their children unwound, which involves surgical separation of all their body parts that are used as transplant parts for others in need.(Now, how scary is that!) This way, the children are not really dead and they are being useful at the same time. The idea of parents getting their own children unwound took a little time to sink in at first but gradually I got used to it. To cure illness, people opt for replacement of the body parts rather than the ordinary treatment.

The story mainly revolves around three teenagers: Connor, Risa and Lev who are all going to be unwound. Co-incidentally, fate brings them together and their journey starts.

This was a very good read. I recommend this book to everyone. The writer’s language is simple but doesn’t miss a detail. It really got me hooked and I know I’m gonna be haunted by this book for a few days. All in all, this was a great book and I loved it.
